The Effect of a Working Memory Training Program on the Cognitive Function of Mild Cognitive Impairment Patients

Abstract
|
|
|
Objective: The purpose of the study was to explore the effect of application of working memory training program on patients with mild cognitive impairment.
Methods: Subject of this study were 30 patients with mild cognitive impairment from acquired brain damage and they were classified based on random sampling as experimental group with 15 patients who received working memory training and comparison group who received general occupational therapy with 15 patients as well. The training and therapy were conducted for 30 minutes a day, 3 times of a week for 8weeks, totaling 24 sessions.
Result: In experimental group, there was significant difference in cognitive function between pre- and post-working memory training program while, in comparison group, there was no significant difference
Conclusion: Working memory training program had effect on the improvement of patients with mild cognitive impairment.
